Day Gives to Night

Last night’s nearly Full Moon (full moon occurs today at 8:51 am MST) just follows the shadow of the earth into the sky. It was a beautiful rising. Moon rises this time of year are magical as they coincide closely with sunset. I think of these enchanting natural events not in their power over us but in their power to affect us with their beauty. It’s not something we should take lightly. We are bound to it all and should pause for them to take hold.

What natural thing will enchant you today?

Reflection

This time of year, the shadow of the Earth falls just as the Moon is rising. It’s always spectacular. This post was a reminder that we can enjoy natural events without feeling like we are controlled by it. But we should still be able to be held by its power and beauty.

Unexpected Trails

In the realm of unexpected, this fits right in. I thought I’d get some star trails (the bright, straight streak is Mars) rising over the city. And in addition I got the rhythm of plane trails, the comings and goings from DIA(a new photo series in the making??)

In the regular drumbeat in the perceived world of fake news, click-bait, binge watching and FOMO, the unexpected is a distraction taking us off of our false path. But the real world is full of the unexepected. We are made to navigate this truer path into unknown lands. I’ve come to expect the unexpected and thrill at its revealing. Are you ready to travel into the unexpected with bravery and curiosity?

Today, meet the unexpected with a smile instead.

The unexpected discovery was the goal of this post. Do I know myself enough to enjoy something unexpected.

Painting with Starlight

We just don’t spend a lot of time in absolute night. I find it joyous and humbling. When was the last time you walked solely by moonlight or starlight? It’s always amazing to me what the camera picks up; the lights of a distant headlight here or a bit of stray headlamp there.

What is magical to me is painting a landscape with starlight. How amazing is that? Tiny, faraway lights with impact.

What will your tool of choice be today to paint the world?

Taking nighttime pictures is an exercise in painting with light. Old, old and faint light. The creation is always spectacular.

Obstacle

When I first considered this shot I thought of removing that piece of grass so I would have a nice clean shot. I really loved the background but the grass bothered me. But then I changed my perspective. The grass was just another element and added a bit of tension.

Today change your perspective but keep a bit of tension. I wonder what new ideas and scenes you will create.

Reflection

Not moving what was naturally there takes effort. It’s there for a reason, who am I to remove it without reason. That mindset takes a certain neuroplasticity; a certain mindful choice.

Chaos

I watch these clouds like I watch my life. It’s beauty in chaos. These cloudy wisps are twisted, shaped by the unseen into something of purpose. You can see the unseen, feel the hand of the sculptor in these patterns.

Be quiet, disconnect from all the distractions for a moment today and feel that hand.

Reflection

Meditation was on my mind when staring at these clouds. Trying to find stillness within while witnessing a bit of natural chaos on the outside.

Starstuff

If you walked along a beach and started to count grains of sand you could never surpass the multitude of stars. Trillions of stars out there and here we are able to enjoy the scene. We are all made of that stuff.

Ponder today that you are made of stars.

One of my favorite affirmations…we are all made of starstuff.

Gray

I awoke this morning to grayness. All lost in the cloud and with much needed moisture for the tinder dry forests.

As interesting as the black and white world seems, don’t dwell in it. I know you long for just a bit of color in the scenes of your life. And during this time remember that the world is full of grays.

Today add some color to a moment. At the very least shift the world to gray.

Reflection

Nature conspired to teach me a lesson that grayness is all around. very few things are black and white so we shouldn’t ever get stuck thinking this way.

Different Perspective

2020 seems upside down bit we can look at it differently and see some normal and good. Today, turn a problem you have upside down and see how it looks. It might not be as troublesome as you thought.

I think if I completely change my perspective, my body position, that I will see things differently and better

Quiet Days

The leaves are gone; blown away by the wind. I love the wind but sometimes I just want to sit quiet and enjoy the views without the chaos. It’s the way of the world and it’s up to us to create that quiet place inside. How will you handle your chaos today?

Reflection

This was a meditative thought. That I’m like a stone sitting in a river or in a windstorm. I remain though I feel events move around me. My core values are solid.

Bowl of Fire – Day 2

Every sunrise is different. Different colors caused by different sky conditions; different patterns caused by different clouds. All just as beautiful. What differences will you make or see today??

Every day is different and yet basically I am the same. My sense of being, my core values all solid if I have prepared correctly)
